(January 18, 2012) Do you know a high school student who is interested in pursuing a career in healthcare? Point that student in the right direction with the 2012 STAR Summer Program! The 7th Annual STAR Program offers high school students the opportunity to gain one-on-one experience with Ochsner physicians, research scientists, healthcare staff, and administrators while learning about educational development, team building, and career success skills.

The Southern Nursing Research Society Annual Conference provides an opportunity for SNRS members to report ongoing and completed research as well as theoretical,conceptual, and methodological projects to colleagues. The conference is located at the Hilton New Orleans Riverside.

February 28- STAR Informational Session - New Orleans, LA

STAR is a free, educational summer camp sponsored by the Academic Division of Ochsner Health System. The program's mission is to inspire, educate, and prepare students for the future. The knowledge and skills acquired in the program will provide students with a solid foundation on which to build an advanced education and a successful career in science, medicine, or health care.

March 3, 2012 – Brownies Science in Action Day – New Orleans, LA

Every year, Ochsner hosts Brownies and Junior Girl Scouts from numerous troops throughout the New Orleans Metro Area as part of its annual Brownies Science in Action! Day and Girl Scouts Science Discovery! Day, free programs that Ochsner offers in conjunction with Girl Scouts Louisiana East. The girls perform various experiments, led by Ochsner employee volunteers. At the end of the day, each Brownie earns her Science in Action Try-It and each Junior Girl Scout earns her Science Discovery patch.

The knowledge and skills acquired in the program will provide students with a solid foundation on which to build an advanced education and a successful career in science, medicine, or health care.

March 15-17, 2012 - Piedmont Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons - Orlando, FL

This conference will provide updates on diseases of the colon, rectum, and anus, including recent advances in the treatment of diseases. It will focus on primary clinical applications of current and new advances. The conference will provide a high level of detail in the treatment of digestive diseases.

May 26-27, 2012 - 4th Annual Ultrasound Regional Workshop and Gulf Coast Anesthesia Symposium - New Orleans, LA

The overall mission of this conference is to provide clinicians updates on the latest practices in subspecialty areas, including cardiac, regional, OB, and pediatric anesthesia. The regional workshop will provide the novice with a better understanding of ultrasound-guided techniques, while allowing the more advanced regional anesthesiologist to broaden his or her scope of practice.
